Pagoda Country

The Gardens of Stone, initially shown at Penrith Regional Gallery in 2021, inspired the new work Pagoda Country. Initially I photographed the existing sculptures from above and was astonished at the incredible three-dimensional quality of the photographs. I then assembled the photographs into the same grid form as the initial sculpture but also in response to the geometry of the contour maps of the area.

The world that we share is a planet that we are damaging, this planet is being damaged by us, the dominant species … maybe through an aesthetic understanding through art works and critical and social movements we can turn the damage around.

This thought motivates my practice.
