Strange Embrace

The Blue Mountains Cultural Centre, 30 June 2015 – 19 July 2015

In 2015 five artists spent time together in a residency at the Big C Bilpin run by Yuri and Rae Bolotin. The purpose was to use this time to generate works responding to the place and the other residents. We became entangled; our lives were entangled for a brief period of time.

Entanglement is a word from the discipline of anthropology to suggest the fundamental complexity of interaction that is about ideas, people, places and conversation. At the Big C we became entangled in The Strange Embrace that resulted in these works. I made portraits of my fellow artists inspired by their work and conversation.
